      krazykay17 apparently the story goes that Freeform did the show with Netflix and a third company called Constantine. Constantine and Netflix had a falling out and Constantine dropped out so Netflix told Freeform they had to pick up the rest of the money for the budget of the show and Freeform couldn’t do it so they had no choice but to cancel.

      @Bia Sampaio Why couldn’t they afford it? As much as the government hands out money and funding to people, and especially with celebrities being rich and all, they couldn’t find a way to get the money?? I don’t understand that. Maybe I’m not thinking realistically. When I think of celebrities, I think of that they have all the money in the world. And when production from tv shows and movies start filming and making more seasons, I always think, “we’ll, if they have enough funding to produce a show and come out with more seasons, then you’d think they’d have the funding to keep it going.” Like Grey’s Anatomy for instance. It’s the longest running tv show on ABC with a total of 17 seasons. So why couldn’t they keep going with ShadowHunters as well?

      @Cortni Turner the funding for a show or movie has literally nothing to do with the government or their money. It also doesn’t have to do with the actors. They are actually being paid to be on the show and not the other way around, and they don’t have «all the money in the world» meaning they could never pay for everything that a show needs. A tv show has many departments, like hair and make up, sound and mixing, lighting, camera people, prop people, continuity people, the special effects guys, plus all the equipment they use to hook everyone in and make it look like they’re are flying and stuff. All of that is expensive because you need equipment and you need to pay for everyone’s work (adequately), so you pay the actors and all these workers, then you pay for merchandise, a studio, vacations if needed (like for example in the last season of Shadowhunters they filmed in Prague and France, the studio paid for that, not the actors). Having a tv show is expensive and a show like shadowhunters is even more. But let’s take Grey’s for example, yes they are the longest running medical drama in rv history with now 17 seasons, but they are on a bigger network (ABC) and are also on prime time, the show has been here for so long that it feels like Simpsons now (Fox will probably never end it because it’s so popular even if all the jokes in the world have already been told). The celebrities being rich doesn’t have anything to do with the show being on the air or not. Ellen Pompeo could never afford to make Grey’s all on her own just with her money (even if she does have a lot), it takes way too much money to make a show, I’m talking hundreds of millions of dollars, and I think maybe only Jeff Bezos has that kind of money.

      @Bia Sampaio Oh, ok. Thanks for this information. I guess I didn’t think about all that. It makes sense. I know actors are people too. I apologize for making it seem like they were perfect and has all the money in the world. I know they deal with problems as well.
